  2. Try to keep up with the number of days closer to the exam and increase the number of hours of study. Say, currently you study for 6 hours in a day. But around a month before the NEET 2021, it should be approximately 9 to 10 hours a day.
  3. Ensure not to spend too much time on a single section/subject. Appropriate the time on a subject that you are weak in.
  4. You can also refer to NEET 2021 Sample Papers in order to understand the NEET 2021 Exam Pattern.
  5. Sleep at least 7 hours as that is essential to keep your mind fresh and alert. Also, take some time out for your hobbies and recreational activities.

Hence, this will help you accumulate various chapters during your NEET 2021 Revision and manage the time effectively and efficiently. You also need to work on your weaknesses and turn them into strengths, if possible.

Use The Internet For Studies

Basic NEET Chemistry Preparation Tips

Given below are some very basic Chemistry Preparation for NEET. The tips are given in a sequential order to make it easy for students to begin the preparation of NEET Chemistry. The strategy for preparing NEET Chemistry is not solely based on ‘finishing’ the syllabus but also thinking about how to retain learned concepts, how to attempt the exam, shortcut tricks, important and less important topics and a lot more stuff. Let’s begin with the basic tips first.

Be familiarise with the syllabus of the examination

NEET syllabus is as immense as an ocean, and one needs to know the thorough location to fish for the best outcome. Eliminate all irrelevant information and emphasis on important topics. It is known NEET exam covers NCERT syllabus as well, you should match the syllabus with Board exam syllabus. The chapters that are common are beneficial for students as they do not have to prepare them separately.

Develop a Preparation Strategy

Design a sound Preparation Strategy. One must prepare a weekly study plan. Divide the number of chapters from each part of the Chemistry syllabus i.e. organic, inorganic etc. and allot one week to each segment. Try to stick to the schedule.

Take help from Standard Books and Internet

Practice from any other standard book along with the Internet. Along with the NCERT Chemistry books for NEET preparation of 11th and 12th, students should study from any standard book for practice.

  • Prepare Inorganic Chemistry from NCERT Book itself.  This is because it is fact-based. This part does not consist of any concepts.
  • For Physical Chemistry, it is very important to study theoretical concepts as well as numerical problems from NCERT books.
  • Organic Chemistry is mostly based on Concepts and therefore one needs to clear his/her concepts by referring to different books before solving questions.
  • In Organic Chemistry, do detailed learning of reactions by a pen-down method again and again.
  • Run-through questions on “Conversions” every day.
  • Learn all the formulas by heart. Make sure not to skip anything. With the regular revision, formulas should soon be at the top of one’s head.
  • Prepare Redox reactions from Unit 8 of NCERT. One can remember most reactions based on Redox.
  • Studying the types of reactions is also very important.
  • Solve previous year question papers of AIPMT or NEET to get a fair idea about questions asked in Chemistry.
  • After finishing a chapter, solve at least 50 objective questions to clear your concepts from that chapter.
  • Make sure that you eat and sleep properly. All the tips above will have no meaning if you are not physically fit to attend the examination.
  • Do not get nervous about the sections of Chemistry where you are weak. By repeated revisions, one can build a strong base. But if you start to feel negative about your weak topics then it may turn out to be demotivating your own self before the exam. Stay strong.

NEET Chemistry Preparation Tips: Attempting The Exam

The strategy for Chemistry Preparation for NEET requires a student to work on various things. The first step is to complete the syllabus. Second step is to take mock tests. Last step would be how the NEET Chemistry section should be attempted to attain the best possible score out of 180 marks. Let us talk about some tips given by experts-

  • Eliminate Options – All that you need to do is realize that out of 4 probable answers around 50% are not accurate. Or if the options seem too close, be quick to reverse check them if the options satisfy the question. Do remember that this trick works on a few numerical only.
  • Filling OMR sheets – Ticking the right answer is easy. But for now, it is important to figure out a trick for filling the OMR Sheet quickly and effectively manner. Imagine missing out on a question and filling all the options at once. Try watching videos available on youtube over how to quickly fill OMR sheets.
  • Mnemonic Phrases – Mnemonic Phrases are useful. But students find it difficult because there’s already a vast amount of syllabus to learn. If students can devise some catchy mnemonic phrases, and accordingly relate the words with topics.
  • Avoid Irrelevant Info – A lot of times, questions come up with random information that does not relate to the question at all. To solve 180 questions in 3 hours, students must learn to avoid such information and quickly read the questions. This will, in turn, increase their speed.
  • Use Tables/Charts – It is easier to read and learn information from a table. The major highlights, characteristics, uses etc of any particular element can be put in a table. This will help in quick reading while revisions.

NEET Chemistry Preparation: Tricks for Notes and Revision

  1. A lot of students already have sufficient notes from classes attended by them at a coaching institute. In such a case, there is no need to prepare notes again.
  2. Using a neon highlighter or a red highlighter will make the notes more useful by illustrating significant concepts, key points and questions.
  3. Whenever you find a question exhilarating, mark it with two or more stars according to the level of difficulty faced by you. While revising, solve these questions first.
  4. The questions in NEET are asked in the form in MCQs. Numericals are very few and generally, questions are solely testing knowledge. Noting down short tricks will help with a similar pattern of questions that will help to solve them much quickly.
  5. If possible, create dual notes – short and full-length. This might consume time, but if during revision, a concept requires extra attention, it can be referred from full-length notes. Make sure to pen them in your own language.
  6. Try to keep the notes to the point. Penning everything in your notes makes it dull and boring similar to a book! Do not take too much time, as notes do not cover for the time of learning and practice.

NEET Chemistry Preparation: Self Study vs Coaching

Students have various approaches towards learning. Some require a push and some do not. Usually, students are made to adapt to such a learning environment where they think it is impossible to study a subject without the help of a coaching centre. Let us talk about the benefits of Self-study versus Coaching.

Benefits of Self-Study

Self-study is rewarding to those who have had an independent mindset since the beginning. Self-study can benefit in many ways some of which are given below-

  • Candidates try exploring more deeply during self-study as it will help learn the concept with more interest. Even if questions are presented in a complex manner, students can answer them well as they will have understood every part of every chapter very well.
  • Self-study can build confidence within students. This kind of confidence is what is required in the medical field.
  • Self-study enables the student to engage on tough topics without any help. They naturally try to solve the question unaided and since the students are independent, it works in their favour.
  • Using self-study method, students can prepare for NEET at their own pace. They can study according to their most productive times. This can reduce the exam stress and pressure on students by a great level.

Benefits of Coaching

If a student requires a push to get to the study table, coaching is suitable for him/her. A coaching institute asks students to follow their pre-devised strategies and routines, which usually work if followed with complete dedication. Below are some benefits-

  • Classroom setting with desks helps students maintain their focus on study.
  • The presence of fellow students will facilitate peer learning and also push students towards a competitive environment from the very beginning.
  • Coaching institutes provide classes for an ideal number of days, so there is a low scope for exertion or less preparation.
  • Study materials are supplied by the institutes so students will not have to spend time looking for them at bookstores.
  • Teachers are always available to address doubts and help understand topics more deeply.
  • Doubts can be solved immediately. It will help in less confusion for a long time.
  • Some institutes also provide mental support to students to ensure that they do not burn out while preparing for exams.
  • Teachers also help students in building new strategies for solving maximum number of questions in the given time frame.
