COVID-19 Cases Are Declining, But Will NEET 2021 Be Postponed Further?

As per the schedule released by NTA, NEET 2021 is scheduled to be conducted on August 1. The situation created by the pandemic has brought us to the question of the exam postponing this year again.

Though the exam schedule has been released, NTA has not yet released the notification for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021. The application process and other details will be announced on the official website ntaneet.nic.in in the coming days. However, as per reports, there are chances of NEET 2021 being postponed due to the surge in COVID-19 cases throughout the country. Recently, the Prime Minister’s Office took the decision to postpone NEET PG till 31 August, 2021. However, no decision has been taken on NEET UG. As per the last official notice, NEET 2021 will be conducted on August 1, 2021 (Sunday).

NEET UG 2021: Will it be Postponed?

Last year, NEET UG was conducted on September 13, 2020. The second phase of the exam was conducted on October 14, 2020 for the students who either stayed in containment zones or were themselves infected by the virus. The situation this year is also similar, or considerably worse than last year. This has posed the question of postponement of the exam again this year.

Some other exams like JEE Main (April and May session), NEET PG 2021, Class XII board exams, UPSC CSE (Prelims) have already been postponed in light of the second wave of the pandemic. If the situation worsens, there are chances that NTA might postpone NEET UG 2021 too.

However, it must be kept in mind that NEET 2021 is scheduled for August 1, 2021, which is already quite late. So candidates must keep their preparation on track and rely only on official notice released on the website. Until any official communication about the postponement is conveyed, students must consider August 1 as the final date. Do check out some important topics for NEET UG 2021.
