NEET 2020 Form Correction Facility Extended till 3rd May 2020 by NTA

With the extension of lockdown by PM Narendra Modi, the question for aspirants of NEET (UG) 2020 was obvious. When will NEET 2020 Admit Cards be released? Union Minister for Human Resource Development, posted on twitter about the extended deadline for NEET Application Form Correction Facility, which indirectly tends to the date after which students can expect the release of NEET Admit Cards.

NEET 2020 Form Correction Facility has been extended by NTA till 3rd May 2020. Along with this, Mr Ramesh Pokhriyal also informed in his tweet about the extension of JEE Main 2020 correction facility by NTA. Both of these exams are the most awaited competitive exams for class 12th students.

Point to be noted here is also that NTA extended the scope of the facility by allowing candidates to update their exam city preference for the NEET 2020 examination due to multiple requests from candidates.

NTA re-extends the correction facility notice

What does this mean for NEET aspirants?

  • NEET 2020 aspirants should be prepared for the exams even more thoroughly as extended dates for correction would also delay the exams.
  • Check the application form thoroughly. If any issue is found, correct the form before the closure of this facility.
  • Attempt maximum mock tests while staying at home. Students should also keep preparing using free video lectures offered by various applications.
  • In case lockdown is extended even further, exams might be delayed too. Keep updating with the help of news updates from this website or the official website of NEET (UG) 2020ntaneet.nic.in.

Last Two Days To Make Changes in NEET 2020 Application Form

National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the correction in NEET 2020 Application Form 2020 to changing exam city preferences. The last date to make any corrections or changes is 14th April 2020 till 5.00 PM. This means that counting from today, the number of days left for correction window is only two. Candidates are advised to check for any errors in the NEET Application Form and correct the same before this window closes, as this will be the third and probably the last window for correction.

The change in exam city preference has been provided due to the problems faced by multiple candidates stuck in a particular city due to the 21-day lockdown announced by PM Modi after the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic starting growing in the country. Candidates can update their preferences for change in exam city with the help of correction window provided on the official website of NEET 2020 – www.ntaneet.nic.in.

There will be no fee required for a change in exam city preference although if there is any fee required, the same will reflect on the final page before submitting the changes. The required fee can be paid via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, UPI, Online Wallets.

NTA said in the official notice issued on the website that although the maximum effort is put to ensure all the candidates are allotted exam center in the first city preference provided by them, it is possible that a different city (second preference) is allotted due to unavailability of additional seats.

Recently, amidst the outbreak of this fatal disease, NTA postponed major examinations such as JEE Main 2020 and NEET (UG) 2020 to ensure the safety of students as well as the whole country. Soon after, NTA opened correction windows for both the exams as an opportunity by candidates for one last time, if required.

Some suggestions for choosing the exam city preference amidst lockdown are given below.

  • Choose your current residential city. If you are away from your hometown, choose the city where you currently reside. It may be possible that the government might allow conducting the examinations amidst lockdown due to urgency.
  • Travel using trains. If required, travel using rail transport. Indian Railways has ensured proper sanitization of coaches to prevent the spread of COVID-19 disease. Hence, it is suggested to use trains instead of buses or other private transport.
  • Do not choose a city out of state borders. It is possible that the state borders are sealed. In such a case, provide preferences to nearby cities within the state. That way if 2nd preference is allotted, you will still be within your state.

“..Close learning gaps if any”

The delay in the process of admissions shall put a lot of pressure on the students and might even result in a loss of major opportunities. The notice states the importance of academic calendar and schedule. But in times like these, extreme measures are necessary and they cannot risk the life of the citizens including students.

NEET 2020: Eligibility Confusion and Distress for PwD Candidates

NEET 2020, the national-level entrance exam for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in India, has been a constant cause of confusion for candidates with disabilities (PwD) from the beginning. The application process for NEET 2020 started on December 2, 2019  when many candidates with Disabilities filled the form according to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

As the brochure released for the exam in 2020 stated that the candidates with disabilities will be eligible to apply for NEET 2020 as per the guidelines under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 which allows 21 disabilities to be included.

But on November 16, Medical Council of India (MCI) released a draft guideline which excluded many disabilities to be eligible for NEET 2020. MCI further invited objections to be submitted till January 6, 2020 (extended date), which was the last date for applying for NEET 2020.

The entire scenario has created a lot of confusion and distress for all such candidates with disabilities as they are left in a state of limbo. The MCI and Government of India has failed to step in and provide a meaningful resolution to this confusion state of confusion which can affect the future of thousands of medical aspirants in the country.
