Not Sure About MBBS? Here Are Some UG Medical Courses Without NEET

NEET UG, conducted as a qualifying exam for undergraduate courses in the medical field, is considered to be one of the toughest entrance examinations.

Around 15 lakh aspirants take the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) for admission to undergraduate medical courses like MBBS or BDS. But owing to the high competition due to lesser number of seats available, out of this huge number of test takers, it’s only 50% of the candidates who qualify the exam. Thus, a large number of students who wish to pursue courses in the medical field are unable to qualify the entrance exam. Instead of being disheartened by the results, such candidates should look for alternate options in the medical field. Bachelor of Pharmacy

Students can opt to pursue a graduate course in Pharmacy from various universities like BITS Pilani, Jamia Hamdard University, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and others. B.Pharm graduates have a wide career scope as they can become pharmacists, lecturers, researchers, etc. Students can even go on to pursue a Masters in Pharmacy.

B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering

Another lucrative option for students is to pursue B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering. It is a 4-year undergraduate program offered by most IITs, NITs, and other engineering colleges. After completing this course, students can become Biomedical Engineers, Biomedical Technicians, Biochemists, etc. They can also take roles in research which helps in building vaccines and eradication of various diseases in the world.

B.Sc in Nutrition

B.Sc in Nutrition is a 3-year UG program available to students after passing Class 12th. The program covers various aspects of nutritional value of diet. The graduates from this field can pursue a career as Dieticians and Nutritionists in hospitals, health clinics, health centres, etc. Graduates can also do freelance work, work at Gymnasiums which usually require dieticians.

B.A. in Psychology

Another alternative program available to students without passing NEET is B.A. in Psychology. This course is open to class 12th students from all streams. It is a 3-year undergraduate course and offers the graduates with opportunities to work as counselors, social workers, etc. It is offered in most of the colleges throughout the country and admission is usually given on the basis of percentage secured in class 12th.
