Fake Notice on NEET PG Counselling circulating on web: Warns PIB Fact Check and Health Ministry

NEET 2020 Fake Rumours: Since educational Institutions are closed from March 2020 due to the global pandemic, hence, the students feel that there is an uncertainty of appearing in the NEET PG 2020 Exam. Consequently, they started to spread rumours and fake news related to the entrance test and school board exam on social media based on their assumptions. To stop such nuisance, PIB Fact Check Team and Health Ministry arranged a press conference and warned the NEET 2020 PG applicants, who have taken part to circulate the rumours through social networking sites. Additionally, the Health Minister also mentioned that no such decision has been taken or they did not issue any official letter on NEET PG 2020 Exam.

What does Fake Rumour Portray?

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued a letter to the Chief Secretaries of all states on fake circular in this current situation. The letter contains “responsibilities to conduct online counselling for allotment of postgraduate seats to eligible and qualified candidates should be done as per the directions of the Supreme Court of India”. Therefore, the Medical Counselling Committee is bound to allocate seats to the qualified NEET 2020 aspirants for PG admission process through AIQ 50% seats/ state rounds/ Central Universities/ Deemed Universities/ AFMC.

MCC Released Seat Allotment Letter for Second Round

The qualified students of NEET 2020 BDS/PG exam have received a fresh allotment letter from the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). This letter is issued for attending the second round seat allotment process. According to the issued letter, the aspirants can report to the allocated institutions within 30th June 2020. This letter will be the Curfew pass or e-pass to the qualified students to the institutions and they will not face any hassle or will not require to bear on-going travel restrictions (especially during this current pandemic situation).

Fake NTA Notice On ‘NEET 2020 Postponed’ Circulating On Social Media, Warns PIB

In another fake news incident, a fake public notice dated 15th June 2020 is circulating on the social media and WhatsApp forwards of parents and students. The alleged notice by NTA says that the NEET (UG) 2020 exam has been postponed till 15th August 2020. Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check Twitter handle has tweeted that the notice is fake and not issued by NTA. Along with this, NTA also issued an advisory public notice (given below) acknowledging that a fake public notice is being circulated and that ‘stringent action would be taken against such anti-public elements’.

In the tweet by PIB’s Fact Check Twitter handle, a screenshot of the fake notice is also shared. It is clearly visible that the dates have been changed by someone. The fonts and size of the font are clearly uneven in the picture being circulated, which shows the anti-public element using a photo editing software for misleading the interested stakeholders.

NTA has stated that the investigation is undergoing to catch the source of this fake notice. Such elements have an intent to misguide candidates, parents and the general public. NTA has clarified that no such decision has been taken. Students and parents must only rely on the official website of NEET (UG) 2020 – ntaneet.nic.in – for all the important updates. NTA’s Twitter page can also be followed for regular updates.

NEET 2020 was postponed by NTA due to COVID-19 pandemic and country-wide lockdown. The topmost medical exam is now scheduled for 26th July 2020 with more than 6,000 exam centres being set up to conduct the exam.
