Union Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan announced on Thursday that NEET PG 2021 has been postponed amid the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in India.
Amid the surge in COVID-19 cases throughout the country, NEET PG 2021 has been postponed. The information about the postponement of the postgraduate medical entrance exam was given by the Union Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan, on Thursday.
The minister tweeted, “In light of the surge in #COVID19 cases, Government of India has decided to postpone the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Postgraduate exam which was earlier scheduled to be held on April 18. Next date to be decided later.”

Demand for Postponing the Exam by Aspirants
The demand for postponing the NEET PG 2021 exam was put forth by thousands of MBBS students. On Thursday afternoon, a group of students also filed a petition for postponement of the exam in view of the surge in COVID-19 cases. The exam was scheduled to be conducted on April 18, 2021. NEET PG Admit Card 2021 has also been released by the National Board of Education. However, new admit cards will be released after the announcement of the revised exam dates.
Many MBBS students are already working at their respective institutes for treatment of patients with COVID-19. This was already putting them under pressure, while risking a large population towards the spread of coronavirus.
CBSE Board Exams Postponed
The update on postponement came after the postponement of CBSE Class 12th board exams. CBSE also cancelled the exams for Class 10th. The decision for postponement or cancellation of exams have been taken in the interest of student’s health and well-being.
