NEET 2018 Preparation Tips

Since you have got a basic idea about syllabus and trends in question asked in NEET exam it’s the right time that we should discuss about the preparation tips for the exam.

  • Prepare a detailed time-table and divided time for each subject on daily basis.
  • Start your day by studying Physics and then move on to any other subject as understanding concepts of Physics requires a fresh mind.
  • In chemistry prepare small notes and charts listing important reactions and conversion process given in organic chemistry.
  • In biology study the diagrams carefully so as to understand the labeling of the parts in diagram.
  • At the end of each subject try practicing previous year questions asked from that topic.
  • To maximize your outcome take a 5 or 10 minutes break after 25 or 50 minutes of study respectively.
  • Apart from studying you have to take a good care of your health so, do light exercise during day or in the evening.
  • Develop a hobby so that you can relax from your studies and doesn’t get exhausted.
  • Practice topic-wise and subject-wise mock on regular basis during your preparations.
  • Keep a separate time table for your board exam studies (in case you are giving boards next year) and cover overlapping topics together.
  • After your board exams focus entirely on revision and full length mocks and do not indulge in acquiring new knowledge.

It is said that knowing your syllabus well is half the battle won. Same is the case with NEET 2018 exam or for that sake any other exam. Syllabus is a crucial part of your preparation strategy that would help you in deciding what to study and what not.

It would also help you in segregating non-useful information from the useful ones under each topic of the respective subject. Hence it would be apt if would began our discussion by discussing the syllabus of the NEET 2018 exam.

Physics

Behavior of Perfect gas and kinetic theory Work, Energy and Power
Kinematics Properties of bulk matter
Laws of motion Oscillation of waves
Gravitation Physical world and measurement
Motion of system of particles and rigid body Atom and Nuclei
Thermodynamics Current and Electricity
Electrostatics Electronic devices
Optics Magnetic effect of current and Magnetism
Electromagnetic waves Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Current
Dual nature of matter and radiation

The Physics portion of the syllabus would comprise 45 questions or we can say 180 marks in the NEET 2018 exam question paper. This weightage is equivalent to one fourth of the total marks and questions asked in the paper. Though the weightage for Physics is at par with other subjects what makes it difficult than other is the conceptual complexity and the addition of numerical questions involving smart use of formulas.

It is one of the toughest portions of the syllabus as per candidates because they face difficulty in understanding various concepts. The solution to the problem lies in developing a habit of understanding the core of the concept by carefully understanding each step of derivations of a formula and practicing numerical based on that.

Chemistry

Environmental Chemistry Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic acid
Chemical bonding and Molecular structure Alcohols, Phenol and Ethers
Classification of elements and Periodicity in properties Thermodynamics
Equilibrium Structure of Atom
Hydrocarbons States of Matter: Gases and Liquids
Hydrogen Some basic concepts of Chemistry
Basic principles and techniques of organic chemistry Some P-block elements
Redox reaction S-Block Elements
Biomolecules Chemical Kinetics
Chemistry in Everyday life Coordination Compounds
d and f block elements Electrochemistry
General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Elements Haloalkanes and Haloarenes in organic chemistry
Organic Compounds containing Nitrogen p-Block element
Polymers Solid State
Solutions Surface Chemistry

Chemistry is a scoring portion of the NEET 2018 exam paper. Candidates can easily garner score in this section by having a good grasp over various reactions and conversions in the organic chemistry part.

In regards to inorganic chemistry understanding of the trends of periodic tables and good grasp over conceptuality in electrochemistry, Chemical kinetics and other related topics can yield good score under this section.

Biology

Functioning of Cell Body Fluids and Circulations
Biological Classification Neural Control and Coordination
Principle of Inheritance and Variation Biotechnology: Principles and Process
Morphology of Flowering Plants Anatomy of Flowering Plants
Cell: The Unit of Life Locomotion and Movement
Animal Kingdom Microbes in Human Welfare
Reproduction Photosynthesis
Ecosystems Chemical Coordination and Integration
Molecular Basis of Inheritance Evolution
Human Health and Diseases Excretory Products and Their Elimination
Body Fluids and Circulations Biomoleceules
Structural Organization in Animals Organism and Populations
Cell Cycle in Animals Neural Control and Coordination
Biotechnology and Its applications Digestion and Absorption
Strategies of Enhancement in food Production Transport in Plants
Breathing and Exchange of Gases Mineral Nutrition
Molecular Basis of Inheritance Plant Growth and Development

Under the scheme of NEET 2018 exam the Biology section would be divided into two parts namely Botany and Zoology comprising 45 questions each. Though the prescribed syllabus of Biology for Class XI and XII doesn’t make a separation in regards to Biology syllabus in form of Botany or Zoology candidates would have to treat them as separate sub-subject under the ambit of Biology.

The Botany part would deal with topics related to plant life whereas the Zoology part would deal with animals and Human related aspects under the syllabus. A good grasp over Biology is essential as it comprises 90 questions (45 Botany and 45 Zoology) or we can say 50% of the marks in the question paper and hence becomes a deciding factor for your qualification or rejection.

Paper analysis for NEET 2018

It is important for candidates who are taking the NEET exam next year that is in 2018 that they should be aware of the subject-wise and topic-wise analysis of the NEET paper from previous year. This would provide you an insight into the number of questions asked per topic and which topic fared how many questions in the paper.
