Post then, in another official notice published on the official website within few hours, MCC stated that the first round counselling list for NEET PG 2018 published stands ‘null and void’, and will not be valid for the admissions to the postgraduate medical courses in various medical colleges across the country. The committee, operating under the supervision of the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, Government of India, stated in the official notification that the declared list may have multiple errors due to some technical glitches.

The students whose name was listed there in the first counselling list released on March 28, 2018, have now been upset because of the uncertainty of their name in the new list to be released.

The committee is expected to announce a new allotment list containing correct names of candidates soon on its official website. With this glitch, MCC has extended the last date of reporting at the allotted colleges by the qualifying candidates to April 05, 2018.

This retract has resulted in lots of confusion, chaos and inconvenience among all those students who would have cleared the NEET UG exam and appeared in the first round of counselling. It would further impact the overall counselling and admission process of NEET UG with the delay of few days or even weeks.

In the meantime, several states across the country have initiated the counseling process of their state quota seats for the admissions to the medical and dental colleges therein. Exceptionally, the medical seats’ counseling for Karnataka is put on hold as directed by the Honorable Supreme Court based on the prior notification issued by the government of Karnataka about mandating at least 10 years’ study within the state to appear in the NEET PG exam.

The centralized NEET PG 2018 exam’s result was declared on January 23, 2018, and that for NEET MDS 2018 on January 25, 2018. The NEET PG counselling registration process was scheduled from March 14 to 19, 2018.

The date of which, however, was extended till March 26, 2018. MCC has advised the students to keep checking their official website for an update and to check the new list.
